Hello!
I’m so happy to welcome you to our space! My name is Inna Uzberg, and I’m a certified olive oil sommelier! I never could have imagined finding myself in this field, but I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
Let me tell you a little about myself, as my project, Olioteka, is built around my deep passion and is closely connected to my personal journey. I’m 41 years old and have a fun-loving family with three kids: Alisa, Lea and Alex! I’ve worked hard from a young age, traveling and managing projects all over the world. Perhaps that’s why I took a step back when my children came into my life.
I’ve run private businesses in event planning, marketing, advertising, and even dress production. I’ve also worked for corporate companies in the consumer goods market and was on the team at Microsoft before going on maternity leave.
For the past 10 years, we’ve been living in Israel, in the best city in the world—sunny Tel Aviv, with sea, sun, uncredible food and famous Mediterranean diet, which totally change our habits and health.
Two years ago, in Tuscany, while visiting one of the finest olive oil mills, I had a life-changing realization — it was time to step out of my daily routine and explore what I truly wanted. That’s when I came up with my “Lifelong Game.” My passion for olive oil was sparked by education in England and Israel, and this journey has since introduced me to incredible people, unforgettable events, exciting collaborations, and so much more. Italy, Spain, Greece, France—these places are not just regions or country; they are magical worlds for me, each with its own rich traditions and stories in the realm of olive oil.
Why Does the Profession of “Olive Oil Sommelier” Exist, and Why Should We Taste Olive Oil?
Because olive oil, just like milk, wine, and other products, can spoil! In such cases, it’s not suitable for consumption. Recognizing this is essential for your health and the quality of your meals. After just one masterclass with me, you’ll gain the skill to identify whether an olive oil is good or defective!
I’m committed to continuous learning and endlessly tasting, always discovering more. My mission is to teach people how to understand and appreciate olive oil, enjoy it, and use it as a way to care for their families and loved ones. This applies not only to private consumers but also to olive oil producers, who, with my knowledge, can significantly improve their products and production volumes. I was surprised to discover how many producers create defective oils. In most cases, this isn’t due to dishonesty but rather a lack of education on the subject.
I love working with people who are eager to learn and grow—those who say, “Let’s make it better! Let’s go!” I’m a huge fan of the Mediterranean diet and good wine, like so many others. All it needs is a drop of high-quality liquid gold... soft or intense, always aromatic, with each spoonful bringing a smile and a burst of flavor.
My dream is to produce my own olive oil, and I’m confident I’ll get there! In the meantime, I’ll keep bringing oils from around the world, educating you, guiding you in the kitchen, helping businesses improve their products, and sharing everything I learn along the way.
Education is the key to progress and positive change! Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the foundation of our daily nutrition—a true cornerstone! And just like with any structure, if the foundation is poor, everything else falls apart
